Could the Fiat 600 and Multipla Make a Comeback?
Rumor has it that the Fiat lineup is expanding by bringing back some old favorites that have been missing for years: the 600 and Multipla. The models will reportedly get a total makeover, and reports show that both will be returning in crossover form. Read more about what we hope and expect to come from Fiat in the coming year.
After the successful revival of the 500, Fiat is more than likely planning to bring back its previously successful models with a new twist. The newest additions will most likely be a combination of gas, hybrid, and fully electric motors as the brand shifts toward electrification. The variety makes sense for the brand’s worldwide market, although we can assume that the gasoline and hybrid models will be retired eventually. The 600 will more than likely be built on the Common Modular Platform, a compact build that’s well-suited to electrified models. It’s designed to give the brand freedom and flexibility with the ability for various configurations and wheelbases as seen on the Panda.
The new Multipla could replace some models that are rumored to be discontinued. Built on the same CMP, the Multipla will be an SUV, and like the 600, will start with gas, hybrid, and electric powertrains. Production may begin in Europe as early as this fall, and we hope to see more of it in North America as more drivers shift to crossover vehicles. The versatility of the CMP will allow it to be used for many of its new vehicles with multiple powertrains all on the same model. That allows different builds to have the same look while increasing productivity and availability worldwide. Some models have reportedly been spotted in Italy, but no official photos or announcements have been released.
These new models will join the 2024 Panda with a new build and larger body. The next-gen SUV should appeal more to American customers with modern electrified build and low starting price. A refreshed Panda could be just what Kirkland drivers are looking for with an ample driving range and stylish body. Again, there’s no official word on the new Panda, so we can only speculate on what’s to come.
